Enhancing an Antique Quilt

My Client found these old blocks in her Grandmas trunk . She put them into a top and then was stumped.

The blocks had quite a bit of puffiness and weren't flat - but they were Grandmas - so you really want to use them

I quilted half feathers in each petal and that really worked in the fullness for us to continue ... and surprisingly - it was pretty flat and square when all was said and done!

I am completely booked for the rest of 2021 - but... I will have appointments for 2022... if your thinking of getting some quilts Quilted!

Diamond Crosshatching

Got a little Diagonal Crosshatching going on today. This quilt is so cool - my client used all greens and whites - its more white that green at the top and transitions to more green that white at the bottom - Such a Cool Effect!!!

Brown Goose Antique Quilt

my friend is an EXCELLENT antique quilt finder

She found this beautiful one and said - can you quilt a Cable in the border - and I gulped - Sure!

and then I got about to drawing and practicing and praying that I really could

Here is what I came up with!

I am so excited - I think it turned out so great!!

And then I crosshatched in the blocks. Such a beautiful quilt!

Double Wedding Ring Re-visited

About a year ago my Son and I headed up to the mountains to take this sweet beauty for it's photo shoot....

and! I am still in love with it!

My friend and her husband are antique finders - and they have the best little shop of things they have found - but! at one auction he went to he found this quilt top and thought of me/

They gave it to me to see what I could do with it - and oh man  did I have fun
We did note that there are Polyester fabrics along the edge - so it seems the center was made in the Olden days, and the border was added later.

I had a great time quilting it - and LOVE how it turned out

Antique and Antique-ish quilts

I loved quilting on this quilt.
The antique fabrics are so rich and colorful
and reminds me of the days I would go to Grandmas and she would let me play in her fabrics.

I didn't know what a blessing that was...

And this one!
Its a great Christmas wall hanging -

I like this one
Its antique-ish
but made of all new fabrics!

This week in Quilting....

Happy Easter!!!

I had some fun in the Quilting Room this week. Even though it was Spring Break and my kids and I took some short trips in the state!

The above one was really neat - it was all these classic fabrics
and she wanted feathers - so I had a lot of fun

Below
This is  Quilt of Valor my Quilting group made
I quilted a Baptist fan - sort of
at the bottom of the fan - there is a swirl!
Too fun.

Another classic quilt
I must have been in Baptist Fan mode ;-)

As always
I am here to quilt for you
Either tops you have made....
or if you have an idea I can create a quilt from start to finish

Quilting Snippets

A few little glimpses of the Client Quilts I have been working on:

This one might look familiar - It was one of the Bonnie Hunter Mysteries... I LOVED the color choices!

This one was so fun  I got to free hand like crazy!!

The Cathedral Window part - that was made in the 50's by my clients Grandma - it wasn't finished so the relatives were going to throw it away.... She saved it, and we finished it... then made it bigger so she could display it.

it sure is fun to see the variety of quilts that my clients make - and of course, I want to make them all!!

I LOVE Circles

I made some very fun improv quilt blocks quite a few years ago. The class was presented by Melody Randol in Colorado.

If you ever have a chance to catch a class from Melody – I totally recommend it – she is fantastic.

The class was held with our guild and it was way before I understood improv or even scrappy quilting – before I had even really heard of scrappy quilting. Her class spoke to me.

She said just lay the fabric out and lets’ start cutting.
Oh my – I had such fun.

And then, I put them in a box, and sort of kept working with them as I had time…

Of course I was using some of the Kaffe Fasset fabrics I had found at a quilt shop , way before I even really knew who he was! so that was a real draw - I love those bright colors....

Fast forward a few years - I Finally Pulled the thing back out again and made it into a quilt top.

THEN!!  I quilted Circles ALL over it - I just LOVE this texture!

Circle circles everywhere

Don't you just love how it moves across the quilt?

And the final result!!

Got a quilt you would like circles Quilted on?

Snippets

I just wanted to share a few snippets of the quilts I have quilted this year.

I find that I really like to look back at my blogs to find things
so I had better post them more often ;-)

Plus maybe as you are looking at the photos, you might think of a quilt top you have laying around, that you would like this pattern quilted on it.
I can help you with that!

This one is called Paisley - and it looks so great on so many different quilts!

Obviously - this one is called Footballs

And this is a tiny feather - I quilted them to interlock

Stars a Waving

Today I am sharing a quilt with you that I designed -

The first one was made in Plaids:

And the second one with Star Prints on the solids

Flashing back a bit

I am going to flash back a bit today - this is a client quilt that she liked - but was a little blah about.

Sh wasn't sure she liked so much plain fabric in the quilt ....

and so:

we added a TON of texture

This turned out great -
she didn't want feathers as we had just feathered the heck out of another quilt of hers

Isn't that fun?

abstract Purple

My client wanted to play with her purples and make something Modern and Abstract....

I think she succeeded!

Isn't that cool?   I quilted Swirls and pebbles and squares all over it

Blueberry Crumble

This one started out as a challenge to use up my scraps..... and I have learned that when you start using scraps - you sort of make even more scraps.....

But it sure was fun!

I just kept stitching and adding fabrics, until - I ran out ( sort of)

I added a really cool pink and orange backing and quilted away

It happens to be for sale in my Etsy Store : https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlyciaQuiltyGirl

Cheryl's Quilt

I was handed this quilt from my Client Cheryl - and she said - go for it.  ( of course, we discussed the price range first )

Here you go:

this was a really fun quilt - it had a lot of different blocks in it, but was held together by the color scheme.

And the back!  By using a solid - wow - you could really see the quilting stand out!

Thanks for Visiting!
