Preparing your Quilt for Quilting

To prepare your quilt for quilting:

The Top:
Press it very well. Sometimes there is a lot of seams coming together at one place, and we want that to lay as flat as possible. It makes the quilting look much nicer. So please do your best pressing.

Measure your top - and prepare the back.

The Back:

The back of your quilt needs to be at least 6 inches, preferable 8 inches larger that your top.

For example - if your quilt top if 60 x 80, then your backing needs to be a minimum of 66 x 88, and preferable 68 x 90.

One piece backings are so nice. Pieced backing are fine. If you are piecing just two fabrics together, it would be ideal that your seam be horizontal. This way it runs along my bar and provides a smoother quilting surface. When piecing your back, allow a 5/8 inch seam. Press it down first, and then out, so that the seam is as flat as possible.

Quilting Designs:

If you know what you want - tell me! I love that!

If you have an idea of what you want it to look like - let me know and we will work up some ideas together.

Have no idea - let me know what you DON'T  like - and We will work up some ideas together.

Most quilts are turned around in 2 -4 weeks. If we have more consultation time, it may take longer.
